HYROX Geneva 2026: Complete Race Guide (Winter 2026)

HYROX Geneva 2026 will be held at Palexpo for its 2026 winter edition. Like all HYROX events, the format is identical: 8 km of running alternated with 8 functional stations (sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls). What changes here: the local climate, logistics, and atmosphere.

The venue: Palexpo

Palexpo is one of Geneva's leading exhibition and event venues. For HYROX, the floor is covered with an official HYROX carpet (compatible with flat shoes), the ambient temperature is regulated, there are separate male/female changing rooms, on-site physiotherapists, visitor parking, and a recovery area with free massages for finishers.

Access and transport

To reach Palexpo: TPG line 5, Palexpo stop / Geneva airport 5 min away. If you come by Eurostar or TGV, allow 30 minutes for logistical check-in. If you come by plane, the nearest airport is cited above.

Course, weather and conditions winter 2026

Premium Swiss edition – impeccable venue, CHF public. The race takes place indoors so the weather does not directly impact performance – however, it influences the heat in the venue (little air conditioning at summer editions) and hydration strategy. Bring 1L of water + electrolytes in addition to what you would drink at home gym.

Accommodation in Geneva

To optimize pre-race sleep, stay within a maximum of 15 minutes from the venue. Avoid large city-centre hotels if the race starts early (7:30-8 am for the first waves). Opt for an Airbnb or a chain hotel close to the venue. Breakfast before 6 am: look for a hotel with early breakfast included OR prepare your own breakfast in the room.

The local atmosphere

Many executives/bankers, a hushed but very competitive atmosphere. The day before, many finishers meet at check-in for a briefing, to pick up their bib + finisher t-shirt (always provided at HYROX). Be there from the opening of check-in to avoid last-minute queues.

Specific preparation for this edition

Beyond the standard HYROX program (8-12 weeks of prep), adjust these variables for Geneva:

  • Thermal acclimatization: if it's a hot edition (Marseille, Madrid, Lisbon), train 2x/week in a hot room (closed changing room) to acclimatize the body
  • Pacing strategy: adapt the pace to the venue conditions (carpet vs. hard floor, ceiling height for wall balls)
  • Doubles team cohesion (if format chosen): at least 2 Doubles sessions to practice relay transitions

Categories available in Geneva

As everywhere, Open (lighter loads), Pro (full loads), Doubles (2 athletes alternating), and Relay (4 athletes) categories are offered. Check hyrox.com/switzerland for available spots: popular editions fill up within 2-4 weeks after registration opens.

The HYROX Geneva D-Day checklist

  • Bib + race number collected the day before
  • Flat shoes (Reebok Nano, Nike Metcon or equivalent) — no running shoes

  • 1L water + electrolytes
